Allen Russ is a Washington DC based landscape photographer and exhibiting artist specializing in photographing the natural and built environments. His photographs have been published in Landscape Architect Magazine, Home & Design, Style 1900, Fine Homebuilding Magazine and New Old House and have garnered design awards for both landscape architects and architects alike. In 2011, Allen's photographs of Wilderness Battlefield appeared on the cover of The Cultural Landscape Foundation’s Landslide 2011 calendar and were featured in their 2012 calendar as well. In addition to his landscape work, Allen’s architectural photography is represented by Hoachlander-Davis Photography, LLC, one of Washington DC’s premier architectural photography firms.
He is a Co-Founder of www.photographingspaces.com, and is a regular speaker and educator on the subject of architectural photography and digital imaging and was a co-presenter at both the 2012 National AIA Convention in Washington DC and the 2014 National AIA Convention in Chicago.
Currently, Allen is working on a book project: City of Trees: The Natural Monuments of Washington DC with the goal of assisting the Trust for the National Mall in raising funds for the restoration and maintenance of The National Mall. City of Trees has been exhibited in solo shows at the Carroll Square Gallery and Vastu, as well as in several group exhibitions around Washington DC. It was the featured project at the 2012 FotoDC Cherry Blossom Central exhibit in the Edison Place Gallery and won first place in the series category of the 2012 FotoWeekDC’s annual Cherry Blossom Photography Contest.
